Research Peer Review

My three themes at the time were, the first was about the contrast between my own room in the past and the room in the present, the second was about the contrast between the city I lived in in the past and the city in the present, and the third was about the contrast between the past and the present in the exact location of the Guangzhou Zoo. The students all agreed that the third was the best, thinking that the structure of the new ride at the zoo now combined with the colours and textures of the animals would create an interesting costume. One student’s location was the human body and another the universe. I think the themes they chose were very bold and interesting. I was advised that my current understanding of the Guangzhou Zoo was only superficial, such as its structure and colours, and that I would look deeper into its conceptual development and functional changes.

My peers expressed concerns about the focus and coherence of my pages, pointing out that they appeared scattered and lacked sufficient hand-drawn elements. Additionally, they noted that I needed to complete more pages to ensure a robust portfolio development. Taking their feedback to heart, I will dedicate extra time to adding additional pages independently, allowing me to gather a diverse range of elements for future portfolio endeavors. One particular classmate at my table impressed everyone by incorporating her own dyed fabric and a myriad of physical objects, such as herbs, within her sketchbook. The impactful visual presence of these elements sparked a wave of inspiration within me, compelling me to explore the possibilities of incorporating mixed media and three-dimensional objects into my own collage work. Reflecting on this feedback and the transformative influence of my peer’s sketchbook, I have realised the potential to further enhance my pages by embracing a wider range of materials and textures.
