Week 1

Today was an exhilarating day of exploring draping and placing techniques on mannequins in our class. During this session, I focused on expressing the concept of healing through my work. For the fabric placement, I carefully manipulated the fabric to resemble a bag or bib shape. I wanted to convey a sense of nurturing and protection, as if enveloping the wearer in a comforting embrace. To enhance this feeling, I strategically incorporated small balls into the design, symbolising care and support. To create an atmosphere of warmth and serenity, I selected a combination of red and beige wool. I twisted these two colours together, intertwining their fibres to produce a visually striking effect. The fusion of red and beige represented a harmonious blend of energy and tranquillity, evoking a sense of balance and restoration. As I meticulously arranged the fabric and played with the three-dimensional elements, I focused on achieving a composition that embodied the essence of healing. Each cut, fold, and placement was carefully considered to communicate a profound message of care, compassion, and rejuvenation.
